Thornlink is a custom game engine designed by AsAbove.
The engine was designed locally, primarily to place events and scripts like tiles. As of July 2025, git/Claude integration has been implemented to assist with development. This integration reduces redundant duplication and manual repetitions.
Thornlink provides an immense amount of creative freedom, while limiting potential (patch related) breakage. It allows us to create media we want
you to enjoy, with exactly what we need, with strictly minimal usage of external tools or language models.
Q: Could the games be made in Godot without this integrative installation? Are your games made by AI?
A: 90% of our time is indeed spent only using Godot. Thornlink acts closer to a beefy plugin alternative, organizing, (de)serializing, and eliminating upon manual
input. Rest assured, Thornlink is not generative AI, or an LLM. We are artists, and only humans can make art.
Q: Is Thornlink open-source?
A: Thornlink, representing another project, is not an open-source engine.
Q: Documentation?
A: When Thornlink doesn't work as intended, the programmer yells into his pillow. -1 year on Earth documented.
Yeah, it ain't all sunshine and rainbows unfortunately =(
Q: Why the name 'Thornlink'?
A: It's cooooooooooool, man.
We hope you enjoy what this engine presents!
